About Us

IAPM was established in 1971 by internationally recognized researcher and physiologist Merrill P. Spencer, MD. Dr. Spencer and IAPM have provided unique expertise and contributions in medical ultrasound research, product development and clinical applications by marrying medicine, physiology and engineering.

Award winning documentary producers recently featured Dr. Spencer in a special segment for the award winning PBS/ KCTS9 television series “Remarkable People”.

History

IAPM has been involved in producing innovative products that are now standards of care in a number of cardiovascular and neurological specialty areas globally.

Partners in these areas include the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Air Force and NASA, among many others.

Work at IAPM also resulted in the establishment at Providence Hospital in Seattle, now Swedish Hospital, of the first noninvasive vascular laboratory.  There are now thousands of laboratories providing non-invasive vascular diagnostic services globally.
