BRIGHT FUTURE DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS

It is an enormous benefit that Bright Future students may attend college classes without having to pay tuition out of their own pockets. However, college carries many non-tuition expenses as well, including but not limited to items such as books, lab fees, and other supplies that the student will retain after completing the course.  In addition, individual students may have personal issues that arise which impact their ability to attend class, such as transportation problems.

Bright Future Dollars for Scholars fills this gap by funding solutions for any barriers that might prevent a Bright Future student from fully participating in the college certificate courses. The average award is $869.10 per student.  Here are a few examples of recent awards extended to students:

  •    Nursing uniform

  •    Blood pressure cuff

  •    Daycare and a supply of diapers

  •    Bus pass

Since 1999, Bright Future Dollars for Scholars awarded a total of $168,411 to 194 students from 24 high schools in six school districts.

LOCAL BUSINESS PARTNERS

One of the key components of helping Bright Future students succeed is the strong case management provided, which includes connecting them to hands-on experiential learning, internships, and externships. These experiences help build confidence by enabling students to hone their skills and observe professionals. Bright Future students complete this essential externship component in public and private hospitals, clinics, and private businesses.

Bright Future is pleased to have strong community support. We thank the following organizations, who have hosted Bright Future students in the greater Seattle area:
